Preserve the JROTC Program at Cherry Hill West High School

Preserve the JROTC Program at Cherry Hill West High School
The Issue
I am a parent of a freshman student at Cherry Hill West High School, and my son is part of the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) program. This program has become an integral part of his life - it's the only class he eagerly looks forward to each day. It provides him, along with many other students, a safe space for personal growth and development.
Unfortunately, our Board of Education is considering shutting down this valuable program due to low enrollment numbers in the wake of Covid-19. However, these numbers are on the rise again as we adapt to our new normal.
The JROTC program is not just another class; it's an opportunity for young people to learn leadership skills, build character and promote citizenship. Such opportunities are rare in high schools today. The loss of this program would be detrimental not only to current students but also future generations who will miss out on these unique learning experiences.
We urge you to consider how important this program is for our children's overall development and its role in shaping responsible citizens for our society. Let us not deny them this opportunity based on temporary circumstances.
Please sign this petition if you believe in preserving the JROTC Program at Cherry Hill West High School.
