As an alumnus of Hart High School and a parent to children currently attending, I understand the deep significance our school mascot holds. It is more than just a symbol; it represents our history, our unity, and the spirit of Newhall's community in Santa Clarita. 

Hart High School is one of the founding high schools within the Santa Clarita valley. Its mascot has been a beacon for students past and present - a symbol that binds us together in shared experiences and memories. Changing this would mean erasing an integral part of what makes us who we are as a community. The statement "Once an Indian, always an Indian" runs deep with the alumni of this school. We take tremendous pride in representing the Indian! 

Moreover, studies have shown that school mascots can significantly contribute to students' sense of belonging. They foster school spirit and pride which can positively impact academic performance and overall student well-being.
