Aloha,

This is our report. We had hoped this was not so.

Unfortunately, President Kauwe and his administration have already dug in his heels that the McKay Foyer has no significance and the McKay Mosaic is politically offensive to them. Kauwe publicly says there is no politics involved. But further investigations show the BYUH Administration's "official" annoucements contradict their private words and actions.

Public communications from BYU-Hawaii from the get-go have been PR manipulated with unsupported rationalizations. The BYU-Hawaii Facebook Page even has an aggressive troll who controls the discussions and attacks opposing views. The wives and relatives of the BYUH Administration are backing their spouses on the social media.

President Kauwe is a wonderful Biology Professor who is the fourth great-grandson of Kaleohano, one of the first converts to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hawaii. Kauwe should be proud of his personal heritage. But, with all due respect, Kauwe appears to be a poor administrator with a big ego. His big ego creates vulnerabilities through silo decisions with his inner circle - -  to erase the "politically incorrect" McKay Mosaic at all costs.

All investigative reports point to Kauwe wanting to highlight and to insert his own family history into the new BYU-Hawaii narrative. His "thin-skin" creates unhappiness and distrust amongst faculty, staff, students, and alumni. There are many reports. The current BYU-Hawaii administration is creating much strife and contention inside and outside of the BYU-Hawaii.
