So very sad to announce that we lost both the historic homes last week for the new Taco Bell. They let local groups salvage as much as possible before demolition, and are donating $3000 to two local groups, Truth for Youth and Satoshi Forest. However, we were surprised to see the old growth native trees taken down today. It was our understanding that every effort would be made to save the oldest oak on site. We hope the community will rally together to ensure more protections are in place for our historical assets, by calling your City Council representative. This is an election year, and we hope all of you will vote for those who commit to strengthening preservation efforts of trees and homes within our city.
