Preserve Public Access to All Traffic Cameras, Especially Needmore Rd. Roundabout

The Issue

Our local community in Clarksville, TN cherishes the city's public traffic cameras' accessibility for various valid reasons. Among all the cameras, the one placed at 101st/Needmore Rd. roundabout, endearingly known as Rhonda, has particularly found a place in our hearts. Watching the live footage of this new roundabout has been an engaging pastime for many locals, providing us with a sense of unity and amazement at our city's development. It's become part of our community's day-to-day, a modern testament to our shared history as it unfolds in real time. However, recently it has come to our attention that Rhonda's feed has been removed from the city's original traffic camera website.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, traffic cameras have proven to be effective in monitoring traffic flow and ensuring motorist safety. They play a vital role in addressing issues in real-time, augmenting our traffic department's ability to efficiently respond to road incidents. As the roundabout at 101st/ Needmore Rd. ,is a new addition to our city, having continuous access to its live footage is not just a matter of preventing traffic incidents, but also about adapting ourselves to this new feature of our city.

We truly believe that losing access to the 101st/Needmore Rd. ,camera would translate into a loss of an important connection with our city, and a loss of valuable traffic safety data - the importance of which cannot be overstated. Therefore, we petition the City of Clarksville to reinstate this beloved roundabout camera's live feed to the official city traffic cameras website. Stand with us, fellow Clarksville residents, as we attempt to preserve this unique part of our communal identity. Please sign this petition in support of maintaining public access to ALL of our city's traffic cameras.
