URGENT! URGENT! URGENT! PLEASE READ AND WRITE YOUR LETTERS NOW!!! PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE MESSAGE New Canaanites, this is an important message and a reminder that our village character is still threatened by a zoning change being considered by our P&Z for Merritt Village. Much is at stake here for the future of our Town. Our petition calls for no zoning change. Over 1,000 New Canaanites have signed the petition and have written comments but this does not have as much weight with the P+Z Commissioners as a personal e-mail or letter. The P+Z Commission wants to hear from YOU, in writing, how the Merritt Village development from 38 units to 116 units will negatively impact schools, traffic, health, safety, property values. M2Partners claims that there will be little impact to our schools and traffic. They claim that their development will not impact YOUR property values. Background Information: Section 5.8 is a Pedestrian Oriented Multi-Family Zone (POMZ) excerpts: POMZ is an overlay zone designed to preserve health, safety, property values, and the residential character of New Canaan.... Letters must be sent to Steven.Kleppin@NewCanaanCT.gov Please read your letter at the FINAL Public Hearing on Tuesday, October 4 at 7 p.m. Your letter must demonstrate why or how granting the developer a Special Permit to Change the Zoning Regulation will negatively impact health, safety, property values and the residential character of New Canaan. M2Partners is petitioning the New Canaan Planning and Zoning Commission to: 1) to amend Zoning Regulations dated June 16, 2007, Revised October 24, 2015, to add Section 5.8 to add Pedestrian Oriented Multi-Family Zone (POMZ) 2) change the Zoning Boundary from an Apartment Zone to an Overlay Zone known as Pedestrian Oriented Multi-Family Zone (POMZ) There are currently 38 units and the developer now proposes 116 units and 212 parking spaces on just 3.3 acres of land (which includes an ancient burial ground/cemetery with at least 54 persons interred).
