Preserve our environment, our history and our culture. Leave a lasting legacy!

The Issue

To my fellow Filipinos and our foreign Friends:

Born and raised in Kawit, Cavite, I fervently advocated for the preservation of its natural resources and beauty. It is crucial that future generations can still feel and witness the historical connection of this area, which houses the site of Philippine Independence in 1898.

Reclamation development threatens to deplete our mangrove population further. Mangroves are vital as they protect coastlines from erosion, support biodiversity, and act as carbon sinks. According to a study by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), mangroves absorb up to four times more carbon than terrestrial forests.

The challenge of economic progress have enticed Filipinos to welcome development, yet it forgot how to be highly responsible humans - taking care of nature, sustainability of environment and even the basic needs of health of the community through potable water and proper sanitation all because most have turned a blind eye for the sake of their personal interests.

We must prioritize sustainable practices over short-term economic gains that destroy our natural resources. The Blue Economy concept emphasizes using ocean resources sustainably while preserving our marine ecosystems. Especially giving emphasis to those in the area of Kawit, Cavite, so that the now thriving fishing communities of Kawit that once upon a time gave so much glory because of its sustainable aqua farming practices, will be able to survive and keep its wonderful ecosystem.

Sign this petition to ensure the preservation of the 300 hectare marine pond with mangrove trees that is in front of the historic Aguinaldo National Shrine, the same site that witnessed the declaration of our Philippine Independence in June 12, 1898, and where the 400 year old  St. Mary Magdalene Church is located.

This preservation efforts is aimed to support the establishment of a more  sustainable area for the population and the environment, a legacy to leave our countrymen through the Philippine Independence Park, a National Historical Park that will be a symbol of nationalism and patriotism of every Filipino.

So friends here and abroad, and especially our countrymen, sign the petition and let this historic land in Kawit be preserved for the entire Filipino people. Every person who supports and signs this petition will be thanked accordingly by having their name engraved in the Wall of Appreciation which will be part of the first phase of this historic legacy project. Thank you very much in advance and Mabuhay tayong lahat!
