Petition updatePreserve Osage Park, Danville CAVictory! Appeal granted! No pickleball expansion at Osage

Dear Neighbors:

For anyone who missed the Town Council meeting last night or understandably had to turn in early (the meeting ran from 5pm to after 9pm!), we have great news to share:  Our appeal was granted; there will be no expansion of pickleball courts at Osage and the Town Staff have been directed to propose sound mitigations to the existing two courts.  Please see below for more details on the meeting, team acknowledgments and a final opportunity to donate, so we can pay our final invoices.

Last night's meeting:
The Town Council was very thoughtful and thorough in their review of all the consulting reports, public comments and broader pickleball media coverage. KTVU attended last night, filmed nearly the entire meeting and ran a spot on the 11pm news. The Council unanimously voted against pickleball expansion and advocated for the existing courts to be mitigated with sound blankets, better control of operational hours and other mitigations (pending future recommendations from Staff).

Team Acknowledgments:
Thank you for the phenomenal team effort. Whether you spoke last night, e-mailed the Town Council, donated funds or otherwise -- it made a real difference. Some special thank you's to neighbors who went above and beyond over the past nearly two years, including:

-Regularly attending Town Council and Commission meetings
-Distributing information to folks at Osage Park and parents at Charlotte Wood
-Taking video footage and audio clips of Osage and other pickleball courts and parking.
-Managing engagements with our lawyer and sound consultant, including leveraging of personal legal expertise
-Communication management, including e-mails and web site development/maintenance
-Completion of independent and impressive site assessment comparing Danville pickleball locations
-Thorough review of Danville traffic laws and commentary against Town's traffic assessment (in lieu of a dedicated traffic consultant!)
-Developing, printing, distributing, and hosting yard signs (lawn signs can now be removed and retired)

Final opportunity to contribute:
It was a costly final run to complete the appeal to Danville Town Council, including additional legal fees (including 4 hours for our attorney to attend last night alone!) and sound consultant time.  As such, our account will be in deficit, and we would be grateful for any final donations so that we can pay final invoices. Thank you!
