I am a resident of  Upper Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania. The open spaces in our town are not just empty plots of land; they are the homes to countless species of wildlife and plants that contribute to our local ecosystem. These spaces also serve as a refuge for us residents, providing us with places where we can connect with nature and escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

However, these open spaces are under threat. Development projects have been encroaching on these lands, leaving less room for wildlife and fewer places for us to enjoy nature's beauty. This is not just an issue that affects me personally; it affects all residents of Upper Pottsgrove.

According to the National Wildlife Federation, loss of habitat due to development is one of the biggest threats facing wildlife today (National Wildlife Federation). In addition, studies have shown that access to green space has numerous health benefits for humans including reduced stress levels and improved mental health (American Public Health Association).
