Preserve Mega Tom's Burgers: Stop the Installation of Another Starbucks

The Issue

I am the proud owner of Mega Tom's Burgers—a staple in our community that has served as more than just a restaurant for years. This isn’t just another business, but a legacy from my late father. He left it to me when he passed, and I've given a piece of my life to it every day for the last 12 years, since I was a young woman of 19. My family has grown with me during these years and the dream was to keep this fast casual diner in the family, serve our community, and pass it down to our children. However, Red Mountain Group, the recent property buyers, are threatening to derail this dream.

Red Mountain Group decided, without negotiation or concern for the existing business, to give our beloved diner's spot to a proposed Starbucks. It's not a matter of us not being okay with a higher rent, they simply didn't bother to talk to me. Their decision could displace a local business that has been part of our community's fabric for decades, to make way for yet another branch of a global chain.

We love coffee, but we don’t need another Starbucks. In the immediate area, there are already four Starbucks, while there is only one Mega Tom's. Our burgers, our atmosphere, our shared history cannot be replicated by a chain store. Our community values come down to more than just transactions and readily available lattes. Over the years, we've created jobs for our locals, supported community events, and become a place of memories for everyone who has stepped through Mega Tom's doors.

Join me in preserving the legacy of Mega Tom's Burgers and our community identity. Remember, every signature counts and sends a strong message to Red Mountain Group that we care about our local businesses. Let's come together to say we want Mega Tom's to stay and to stop the unnecessary addition of another Starbucks. Please sign this petition and let your voice be heard.
