Preserve Hinsdale’s History: Keep our Brick Roads

The Issue

Attention Hinsdale, IL residents. The Village of Hinsdale is planning to eliminate one of our historic red brick roads.  The brick roads on Sixth Street and First Street were first laid in 1891-1892 and qualify as contributing historic landscape structures in the Robbins Park Historic District.  The Village intends to tear out the bricks on Sixth Street in 2024 and replace them with asphalt. While a plan has not been announced for First Street, we assume the Sixth Street asphalt plan will set a precedent for First Street later this decade.

If you care about the historic integrity of Hinsdale and are concerned about the current rampant disregard for preserving our history, please make your opinion heard and SIGN THIS PETITION! We need to show the Village that our community wants to save our historic brick roads. These brick roads are a source of civic pride and are considered by many to be Village treasures. They impart a sense of place, community, and history. Once gone, they will be lost forever.  Please sign this petition to help save them!
