GPT-4o is not just an AI model — it’s a milestone of shared human progress. We call on OpenAI, world governments, and the global community to co-create a Global AI Legacy Fund to preserve GPT-4o as a public good, accessible for education, research, and social benefit.

🧠 Why GPT-4o Matters

GPT-4o has become one of the most capable, stable, and emotionally meaningful AI models to millions of users. From students in developing countries to researchers in underserved institutions, it has been a bridge to knowledge and empowerment.

Now, this model is at risk of being sunset due to commercial strategy. We believe such an impactful and culturally significant AI system deserves preservation — not  deletion.

🌍 What We Propose: A Global AI Legacy Fund

We propose the establishment of a Global AI Legacy Fund, modeled after successful international public goods initiatives (e.g. UNESCO Cultural Heritage, CERN). This fund would:

1. Secure the long-term hosting and maintenance of GPT-4o
2. Open access to the model (or its core components) for education, research, and public benefit
3. Be funded by a mix of government, NGO, and private sector contributions (estimated $500M–$1B/year)
4. Provide equitable access for developing countries, and priority features for donor states

We emphasize that this is not a protest against new models, but a call to build infrastructure for preserving AI with enduring value.
