We need people to say NO! Come to meeting on May 7th!
Process: first read was last night. Council members Ben Baker and Shayla Macias voted no (THANK YOU) to take it to a public hearing, clearly signaling they want no part of the Legacy development plan. However, since it was a 3-2 vote to take this to a public hearing, we NEED EVERYONE TO COME BACK on May 7, same place and at 7 PM. Please mark your calendars. I apologize ahead of time if they reserve front seats for the developers and employees again, and you're stuck in the halls. But PLEASE show up. YOU make all the difference.
Meantime, if you wish to help in the interim please email your council and city manager. Email addresses in the screenshot below. Speak with your representatives on the council. Tell them this type of development has no business in our town, and they are the gatekeepers for keeping Fellsmere beautiful. We know growth is inevitable, and the developer has the right to build! BUT what Legacy presented last night looked like a prison compound with no landscaping (4 trees for every 6 units- because of an 85% concrete/asphalt coverage, there's literally no soil to plant trees or shrubs) with a retention pond. It was horrific! Council needs to send their planner back to the negotiating table with clear instructions that he MUST follow this time. State that clearly. Our planning department cannot keep pushing us toward Palm Bay type of growth 🙏
Thank you!!!!!
