Preserve and promote Marathi culture and heritage

The Issue

Maharashtra, a land steeped in rich history and tradition, is home to the vibrant Marathi culture. Its legacy, symbolized by the rallying cry "Jay Shivray 🚩," is under threat from modern pressures of globalization and urbanization. As the world becomes increasingly connected, the unique cultural identity of the Marathi people risks being overshadowed and forgotten.

The legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, a revered figure in Indian history and the embodiment of valor and governance, is not just a symbol of pride for Maharashtrians but a beacon of inspiration nationwide. It's crucial that we actively preserve and promote this cultural heritage, so it continues to inspire future generations.

However, several cultural landmarks, traditional practices, language use, and artistic expressions are diminishing. From the fortresses that tell tales of Maratha valor to folk arts like Lavani and Tamasha that echo our stories, every aspect of this rich culture is important.

The government, educational institutions, and cultural organizations must work together to:

1. Promote Marathi language education and encourage its usage in public and digital spaces.
2. Restore and maintain historical sites associated with Marathi history to attract tourism and nurture cultural pride.
3. Provide grants and platforms for the revival and continuation of traditional art forms.
4. Organize cultural festivals and events that celebrate Marathi heritage and bring communities together.

By taking these steps, we can ensure that the Marathi culture not only survives but thrives in modern India. Let us honor our past by securing our future and keeping the spirit of "Jay Shivray 🚩" alive. Please sign this petition to urge the responsible bodies to take immediate action.
