Vicki Lopez County Commissioner bringing us one step closer to replacing trees for new luxury condos

I’ve received very disappointing news that County Commissioner Vicki Lopez for District 5 recently sponsored an ordinance to include Allen Morris Park into the Rapid Transit Zone. 

For those unfamiliar with what “RTZ” the Rapid Transit Zone is, it basically gives the county more freedom to develop significant projects in specific properties under the guise of this supporting public transport just due to proximity to a metro.

It’s pretty much the reason we see all these luxury condos popping up everywhere and the relentless construction on every corner - most of these projects got approved under RTZ.   

So this means the beautiful banyan trees are one step closer to being ripped up for a shiny, new luxury building that none of us residents want or probably could even afford. 

If you don’t want these beautiful trees to turn into another luxury condo we don’t need, please email our County Commissioner Vicki Lopez and tell her you’re against Allen Morris Park becoming part of the expanded RTZ.
