Allen Morris Park - E-mail the District 2 Commissioner Candidates before the Run-off Election!

All:

Because no candidate for District 2 commissioner received the minimum percent of votes needed, there is going to be a run-off election - and we have an opportunity! Let’s email the 2 candidates remaining and ask them for their commitment to save one of the very few green spaces left in Brickell.

See below a sample email you can use for this and feel free to edit as you see fit.

E-mails for the candidates:

1) Sabina Covo: sabinacovo@miamigov.com

2) Damian Pardo:  info@damianpardo.vote

SAMPLE E-MAIL

Dear District 2 Commissioner Candidate:

Congratulations to you and your team on advancing to a runoff for the District 2 Commissioner position. As a resident of the Brickell community, there are many issues I and many other members of our community see as important as the area changes and grows rapidly. One of them is the creation of new green spaces and preservation of existing ones.

Allen Morris Park is an example of a green space under threat that is very important to current residents. Many of us are extremely disappointed with the agreement approved by current commissioners to give this public space back to developers after 18 months to be torn up and made into another restaurant or expensive condo that many of us see as far less necessary than a beautiful green oasis in our city.

See here the link to a petition recently created showing support from residents to preserve this park and protect it from development: https://www.change.org/p/preserve-allen-morris-park-for-the-brickell-community-of-brickell-miami

This petition has only been up since Sunday and has nearly 200 signatures already, so this is clearly an issue of importance to the Brickell community.

If elected as Commissioner, can you commit to doing everything in your power to represent Brickell residents’ ask to fight for and protect this park for our community? This is a very important issue as we residents decide who to vote for in the upcoming run-off.

Thank you for your consideration.
