
The Premier of Tasmania, Peter Gutwein MP, has received a constant stream of emails from the public to protect Tasmania's native forests, the Premiers office has not responded to the vast majority of the public, or business, operators who have contacted him. Instead the Premier palmed-off the response to Guy Barnett MP the Minister for Forestry, whose extreme pro native forest logging ideology is legendary.
The form letter received by hundreds of people states that logging native forests is good for climate action as carbon is stored in the wood/pulp products, and that the IPCC endorses forestry as a solution to climate change. So we decided to do a bit of myth busting using peer reviewed research from the Australian National University, Melbourne University and the Federal Governments numbers.
