Blue Derby Wild
Aug 4, 2021

As part of National Science Week 2021 we are holding a Krushka’s Bioblitz from August 21-22.

A weekend of citizen science flora and fauna surveys in the threatened forests of Krushka’s, as well as skill sharing on how to use tools such as remote fauna camera traps, acoustic monitoring, and night vision scopes to record Rare, Threatened and Endangered (RTE) species in the area that can help us get patches of forest protected.

Kruska’s Bioblitz will involve a series of small group expeditions into the forests, so RSVP early to make sure you get your spot on these surveys and are the first in the know about survey opportunities and training.

If you've got science survey skills to share and want to nominate yourself to lead a flora or fauna survey, get in touch. We are a community run organisation, and the more knowledge, skills and energy the better for this weekend in the forests.

The Krushka’s Bioblitz will use Smartphone Apps including Frog ID App, eBird APP, Platypus Spot APP, Echidna CSI APP and the iNaturalist App to make sure all our recordings are entered into the Atlas of Living Australia national biodiversity database, and the Tasmanian Natural Values Atlas.

Free camping is available at the Derby campgrounds, with amenity blocks nearby.

Dress for Tasmanian winter conditions and bring your bushwalking gear as we will be traversing hilly and dense forest understorey.
