TO THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF ONTARIO:

WHEREAS the Ontario Energy Board has declared that multi-unit residential communities will no longer qualify for the Ontario Energy Rebate for common areas. This will cause electricity prices to increase by 30% when the rebate is removed. 
This will cause extreme financial burden to condo owners, they will see their maintenance fees sharply rise. Many can't afford these increases especially during a pandemic. 

The Ontario Energy Rebate, which was specifically intended for residential homes, is being removed from residential common areas unfairly hurting thousands of apartment and condo dwellers across Ontario. The common areas are apart of these residents homes and should still receive the credits. 

THEREFORE, we the undersigned petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to:

Direct the Ontario Energy Board to stop the rate hike for residential common area accounts in multi-unit complexes. This needs to be done quickly as residents are already struggling during these unprecedented times.
