Farmers for Climate Action
Jun 27, 2017
I am a grazier on a beef cattle station called Noonbah in the top end of the channel country in outback Qld. A few days later after starting my petition against Adani’s water licence, I came off a quad bike when doing work around the farm and was airlifted to hospital by the Royal Flying Doctor Service. I was out of action for a few days, but I’m back on the farm now, and when I checked the petition today I saw that almost 30,000 people have signed - WOW. We even got a media story in the Queensland Country Life and radio interview on Rural Queensland Today. This would not have happened without you. I started the petition after speaking with other farmers concerned about the Queensland Premier’s decision to give Adani an unlimited water licence. Today, I am sending a letter to the Premier asking her for a meeting. The Doc says I should take it easy after my accident, but as soon as I get the all-clear to travel I’ll fly to Brisbane to deliver the petition in person. I might bring a few other farmers with me too. It would be amazing if we hit 50,000 people by the time we get a meeting. I know there are many people working to stop the Adani mine, but I reckon farmers have a pretty crucial role to play. After all, it’s our water and livelihoods they’re going to destroy if this water licence goes ahead. Could you please do two things today to help me? 1) Like our Facebook page - Farmers for Climate Action: https://www.facebook.com/FarmersforClimateAction/ 2) Share our petition on social media or via email - especially with any farmers you know. Thank you, Angus Emmott Noonbah Station (near Longreach QLD) PS - Here is my radio Interview with Rural Queensland Today: https://player.whooshkaa.com/episode?id=106154
