Pre-Marital Sex and Early Pregnancy: An Awareness Program to Teenagers

Pre-Marital Sex and Early Pregnancy: An Awareness Program to Teenagers
The Issue
Introduction:
Pre-Marital Sex and Early Pregnancy: An Awareness Program to Teenagers is a program that will be conducted by Grade 12 Academics of Prince of Peace College, Inc. to help the Barangay Officials, City Health and City Mayors' Office to raise the awareness of our fellow teenagers about social issues especially the rising crisis of pre-marital sex and teenage pregnancy in Barangay Aninuan.
Purpose:
Teenage pregnancy may be linked to things such as lack of education and information about reproduction, peer pressure and early engagement of sexual activity. Reducing teenage pregnancy is the main goal of our project, because of the alarming rate of teenage pregnancy in Barangay Aninuan, that was resulting to a biggest problem of our community and also of our country in the past decades until these days.
According to Philippine Statistics Authority, in the year of 2022 there are 406,000 pregnant teenage girls, of whom 306,000 have already given birth and 79,000 are currently pregnant with their first child. Some 20,000 first-time pregnancies, on the other hand, resulted in either non-live birth or an abortive outcome. That’s why the purpose of this program is to educate our fellow teenagers that this is a serious issue in our country. Our aim is to encourage all the teenagers to choose the right path and avoid wrong decisions that they would regret soon. Through this awareness program we are looking forward that early pregnancy will be lessen.
