Bring Back Cookies to LCC! started this petition to Príomhoide of Luttrellstown Community College

Picture this: You are somewhere between 12 and 19 years old. The bell has just rung to signify that lunch has started and you are patiently waiting in line at the cafeteria to purchase a chicken a roll, which costs exactly €2.50. As your turn to order approaches, you reach into your pocket to find the money. You take out three coins and proceed to count them. You have one €2 coin and one €1 coin. You are filled with a sudden burst of excitement as you realise what this means. You not only have enough money to buy yourself that chicken roll, but you can also pick up a cookie! The lady finally asks you what you want and you get an instant adrenaline rush as soon as she hands you your cookie. You don't even care about the roll anymore. You just know how much fun you're going to have while eating that cookie. But, it's not just about the satisfaction you get from consuming the cookie. There's something pure about that happiness you feel when you buy that cookie. You're able to forget about everything that sucks in life and you just get to focus on this one, delicious item that is able to bring so much joy to so many students at LCC every weekday. Now, what if I told you that the school wanted to take this item away from students?

From the fifth of March 2019, these cookies have no longer been available at Luttrellstown Community College. We suspect that this is part of the school's attempts to make LCC healthier. If that is the case, however, the school is being very hypocritical. How come the vending machines still get to sell energy drinks, which are basically bottles of poison designed to get kids hooked from a young age, but the school cafeteria is not allowed to sell their damned cookies? Just for comparison, a large cookie typically has around 10-15 grams of sugar. In the meantime, a bottle of Lucozade which can be purchased in vending machines at LCC contains 49 grams of sugar as well as 46 milligrams of pure caffeine!

We're not asking for much, but we would really appreciate it if you took just a few seconds out of your day to sign our petition. We believe that if we show the Príomhoide (Principal) just how much these cookies mean to students at LCC, we can get her to reverse the decision to remove them from the cafeteria!
