Since 2021, the Powhatan Color Guard team has worked exponentially hard to rebuild the program from when it was handed to them, placing top 3 in every AIA Championships (Hampton VA) since 2022. In 2023, they were promised that if they continued this work they could go back to National Championships in Dayton Ohio, which they have not been able to attend since 2019. In early 2024 they were told that they were finally going to be able to attend during the 2025 season. They continued to strive for excellence and planned accordingly. This planning involved higher fees and extra practice in order to get to their goal. On March 13, 2025 they were told just 2 weeks before their trip that they could not attend due to funding and lack of approval from the PCPS School Board. Request for approval was supposedly sent out months prior to this information, only to find out that is was never properly addressed by the right people. The Guard is devastated and would like your help with spreading the word that the School Board should put forth all effort into making this possible for the team.
