Poverty which affects more than 200 million Indian people

The Issue

Having spent more than a decade living in India, I can attest to the devastating nature of the nation's high rates of poverty. When you first arrive, you will probably see a large number of people begging for food or cash on the streets. Many even put their lives in danger by driving, leaving them open to the possibility of auto accidents and other threats.

Given that more than 200 million people in India live in poverty, this is an urgent problem that has to be addressed. Approximately 22% of Indians are estimated by the World Bank to be living below the country's poverty level. Furthermore, approximately half of children under five suffer from malnutrition, illustrating the profound effects of poverty on those who are most susceptible. A lack of education, insufficient access to healthcare, and unemployment all make matters worse. With 25% of rural residents living below the poverty line compared to 14% in metropolitan regions, rural communities are disproportionately affected.

Despite notable economic progress, not everyone has benefited equally, with a sizable percentage of the populace finding it difficult to meet their basic necessities.

I am determined to change things and lower this figure, and I cordially welcome you to support me in this endeavor. By working together, we can support programs that improve healthcare, education, and economic prospects for the poor, so together we can make a real difference and help lift up people who are in need.

Thank you
