Since 2000, there have been 5 fatality accidents and numerous injury accidents at the intersection of Highway 24 and Flush Road in St. George, KS. This is a high traffic area that requires young, inexperienced drivers to cross a four-lane highway each morning and afternoon traveling to and from school. Soon, with the expansion of Rock Creek School District, more children, traveling by bus, by parents, or driving themselves will be required to cross this dangerous intersection.

The reduced speed limit, flashing signs, and irrelevant costly improvements made over the last year have done nothing to address the issue of visibility of oncoming traffic. It is time to take proactive measures to ensure the safety of our children and all motorists along this route. The only solutions that will mitigate this issue and promote the safety of motorists are an overpass or traffic light. Help me tell our County Commissioners it is time to take action!
