Postpone the December comic expo in Sri Lanka

Postpone the December comic expo in Sri Lanka
The Issue
As an aspiring cosplayer and artist, I have eagerly awaited the comic expo scheduled for December 6th and 7th in Sri Lanka. It is an event that offers a platform for creatives like myself to showcase our passions and talents. Many of my friends, including fellow cosplayers and artists, have been preparing tirelessly for this occasion. Unfortunately, the current severe weather conditions in Sri Lanka have made it increasingly dangerous for many to travel and participate.
The devastating rains and storms gripping our country have not only made transportation perilous but have also hindered essential preparations for the event. Countless artists are unable to collect their prints, and cosplayers are struggling to obtain their meticulously crafted costumes from tailors. The path to participation is blocked by hazards beyond our control.
Proceeding with the comic expo during such times poses significant safety risks and, frankly, feels inappropriate when so many are suffering due to the extreme weather. It seems only right to postpone the event to a date when participants can safely converge and celebrate our shared passion without fear or logistical challenges.
We need the organisers to understand the gravity of the situation. Postponement will also ensure that the creativity and hard work of the artists and cosplayers are not compromised. Our safety should be the priority.
Our country is in an emergency state and I truly believe all of us should take this more seriously than we already are.
Therefore, I appeal to the event organizers to postpone the Comic Expo until the weather conditions improve. Postponing the event is a responsible move that aligns with the community's best interests and will ensure an inclusive and safe environment for everyone involved. Please sign this petition and help us advocate for a safer event timeline.
