Postpone final year mbbs exams

The Issue

I am writing this letter on behalf of many final year MBBS students of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru, to humbly request your kind consideration regarding the schedule of the Final Year MBBS examinations proposed to commence from 25th March.

Final year MBBS comprises seven major subjects, and it is extremely difficult to complete the vast syllabus within a short span of two months. Additionally, in most medical colleges, the third internal assessments are yet to be conducted. Completion of these internal examinations, along with evaluation and academic formalities, itself requires nearly one month, leaving students with very limited time for final examination preparation.

Furthermore, this batch has an additional academic burden compared to previous batches, as ENT and Ophthalmology have been included as separate subjects this year. This has significantly increased the volume of syllabus and the pressure on students.

Due to the tight schedule and academic load, many students are experiencing severe stress, anxiety, and mental exhaustion. Several students are finding it difficult to cope and are developing second thoughts regarding their preparation and performance, which is a serious concern for student mental health.

In view of the above reasons, we sincerely request the university to kindly postpone the Final Year MBBS examinations from 25th March to the first week of May. This additional time will allow students to complete internal assessments properly and prepare adequately for the final examinations, ultimately ensuring better academic performance and mental well-being.

We sincerely hope that the university will consider this request sympathetically in the best interest of students.
