We started the fight against two offshore concessions in 2012, now three years later we are fighting 9 concession areas in the Algarve (South and West coasts as well as on land), and the number of concessions is due to increase later this year or early next year when new contracts are signed. Yes. There are new contracts in the pipeline. We are fighting not only deep-offshore oil giants now, but also Fracking threats in Tavira, Portimao, Lagos, Vila do Bispo and Aljezur – and will be fighting new areas as information about them becomes available later this year or early next year. At ASMAA we are fighting against big corporations with millions of Euros to spend on EVERYTHING THEY CAN THINK OFF TO MAKE SURE they can do whatever they want and in the process destroy the Algarve, its economic engine – Tourism and in the process destroy your lives and ours. ASMAA has partnered with the Permanent Peoples’ Tribunal (PPT) and that ASMAA will be organising a PPT mini-tribunal hearing in Portugal in the summer of 2016. This mini-tribunal hearing in Portugal can be used to support a coalition of human rights lawyers and academics which were granted the opportunity to put fracking on trial at hearings to be conducted in March 2017 by the Permanent Peoples' Tribunal (PPT) in the UK and the USA.
