Thank you to all supporting this cause. This important issue will not be on the September 8th ballet, as a referendum is not enough. Our Police Commission needs to take charge and hear our calls. Accountability first, before all else. Server and protect - and in order to do that there needs to be accountability. 

This petition has no end. It will go until there is change, we are here and we are not going anywhere. This petition will be a success when the city of Portsmouth comes clean about all uses of our tax payer dollars, and putting some of those dollars towards cameras, and police accountability. 1% of a bloated budget. 

We have emailed the Head of the Portsmouth Police Commission, and other than a copy pasted response last month - showing he clearly didn't read the petition and doesn't care - he has ignored our messages. Our city is run by greedy and corrupt representatives, and we demand justice, starting with accountability and transparency, of which we have neither. 

If many of us as white Americans do not feel safe in a community with unaccountable cops - how is anyone of a different ethnicity going to feel safe? Accountability and body cameras is one of the answers to that question. There is only one race, the human race, and we need to demand our law enforcement understand that better than anyone.

Everyday on the news - another black man in shot - shot in the chest, shot in the back, shot while unarmed, shot while with a child, murdered in cold blood by those who swear an oath to protect. An oath which is broken every day, with every child that loses a father or a mother. We are sick of the murder by police in this country, and fear it could spread to our city of Portsmouth. Let's stay ahead of bullets, and put cameras on our cops... NOW.
