I recently visited Nelson Bay and was shocked at the number of jet skis riding around, near dolphin pods and whales. These jet skis can be hired by anyone and despite information given, I saw Dolphin Watching crew on approved larger boats have to threaten to call the Water Police to deter the jet skiers from hassling the dolphins. I can't understand how these amazing creatures, such as dolphins and whales, are not valued enough by this community (from both an environmental and tourism perspective). Who knows if dolphins or whales have been physically injured by these water craft as well? I understand that jet skis are banned from Sydney Harbour so it is possible to do so.
