We are calling on the City of Port Moody to address the excessive train whistles at grade crossings within our community.

The constant train noise and whistles not only disrupt our daily lives, but also have a significant impact on our physical and mental health. Studies have shown that this noise can cause hearing loss, cardiovascular problems, anxiety, depression, and chronic stress. We believe it is time for the City of Port Moody to take action and address this issue to ensure the safety and well-being of our community.

Moreover, we believe that train whistles are not effective at making crossings any safer. In fact, the use of train whistles has limited effectiveness in preventing accidents. Modern technology, such as crossing gates and warning lights, has proven to be a more effective and safer solution for grade crossings.

Therefore, we urge the city to work with Transport Canada and cease the use of train whistles at grade crossings within our community and consider alternative safety measures that are both effective and safe.
