Lake Cathie is dying. Fish and endangered species of stingrays are dying on the shores of the shrinking lake at an alarming rate. The recent bushfires that have scorched the surrounding area have compounded the problem, evaporating and polluting the water that was left in the lake. It needs to be opened to the ocean, NOW.

Lake Cathie has been opened manually when needed many times in the past, by the council. Biologists support the opening of the lake, to prevent further damage to the many species that live in the area.
