Whereas Pacific Mayfair Estates has purchased the property around the headwaters of Wolf Creek including two ponds accessed from Burde Street in Port Alberni BC

And whereas Pacific Mayfair Estates (and the San Group) has submitted an Official Community Plan Amendment as well as an amendment to the Zoning Bylaw for a residential development that will: 

- Evict beavers from these ponds and destroy their habitat, 
- Destroy the habitat of the endangered Western Painted Turtle, 
- Destroy the nesting and overwintering habitat for many ducks, frogs, owls and other creatures  that live in the area
- Despite assurances that habitat will be rehabilitated, potentially wreck the fish habitat for Coho Salmon both in the upper reaches, and lower reaches of Wolf - Creek, a tributary of Roger Creek.
- Create one of the densest neighbourhoods in the entire city, exactly where very low density is required to protect the existing natural amenities,
- Result in the loss of easily accessible opportunities for education about the natural world, and
- Result in damage to the San’s well-earned reputation with many citizens of this community and, 
- Result in the impoverishment of one of the most beloved and most popular greenspaces in the city.
- We, the undersigned, petition the Council of the City of Port Alberni to do one of two things:

In partnership with a Land Trust, expropriate these properties;

Offer to swap other city-owned property east of the developed part of the city as an alternative location
