There is continous garbage burning day and night behind Hindusthan University on the shores of Muttukadu backwaters at Padur on the IT OMR (Old Mahabalipuram road) corridor. Toxic fumes are inhaled by the University students, and residents of six large apartment complexes within 300 meters of this garbage burning site. In addittion, this is also contaminating ground water that people in this location are dependent on. Numerous complaints have been given to the Kelambakkam Police Station, Padur Panchayat President and Kancheepuram Collector. No action has been taken. Request to immediately STOP garbage burning in this site and come up with a proper garbage disposal system or garbage to be taken to a non-residential place for proper disposal.
