Aldine Combee Arena Needs to be a Covered Arena

The Issue

We are asking for the community to sign this petition to help us go before the county office to get the local rodeo arenas a covered roof to make it safer for riders and livestock there. PLEASE SIGN .Even if you are only a Spectator your votes count.

I am coming before all of you today to let you know that in 2014 most  of the equestrian folks that I have spoken to knew nothing about the proposal to cover the Aldine Combee Arena. It is a very well used arena centrally located and has enough safe seating for families to come enjoy rodeos and barrel racing and other show events there. On 8/22/2020 we attended and assisted the new Polk County rodeo association (Legends in the Making) put on a fabulous show for our youth and adults too. Until it once again monsoon and made a muddy unsafe mess of the arena and the bull pens too. We are banning together again as a community to ask of you to please cover this arena and the livestock holding pens to make it a more safe and enjoyable arena for all.

As we know this is a sport to teach our young children more responsibility in life and life lessons are learned here along with true sportsmanship. These cowboys and cowgirls learn to help one another and give respect to all out here.

These folks all work hard to make this happen, but a covered arena would be more enjoyable for everyone and we could hold day shows even in the hot summer months too.  We also are asking for some panels to be added at the gate to the arena for an alleyway to put in there to keep it safer for everyone too. Polk County is one of the largest Counties around that does not have any single covered arenas to ride in. Hardee, Arcadia, Ocala does all around us folks have covered arenas, we ask WHY not us?

post from 2014
Ok folks, Mr. Neil Combee has had conversations with the County Manager about putting roofs over the arenas that you ALL use. The County Manager has said that there is NOT enough interest and I repeat THOSE THAT USE THE ARENAS DON'T CARE. We have 248 folks, one from England, that think a roof is a good idea to protect the riders and animals, how many of you have done anything other than like this page. Call or write your County Commissioner, him or her, let them know we want a roof. Are you tired of the sloppy arenas, then write or call the County to get them up off dead center and provide a safe place that we can be proud of.
The squeaky wheel gets the grease, let make some noise.

Please we are banning together with all these signatures to show you that the community does want this covered arena at the Aldine Combee Arena @1140 Fish Hatchery Rd Lakeland, FL 33801.. There is a much need in this being done as soon as possible too, not 2 to 5 years down the road. We thank you for listening and we are here for any further questions on this situation and we hope you please take further action and look more into this. Karen Culp 863-425-8331
