Last week, our family dog, a Cocker Spaniel called Emmie was attacked by another dog. 
The dog took hold of my dogs upper jaw and face and lock jawed. 
This attack happened on our property. The dog grabbed Emmie through the bars of our metal fence and tried pulling her through. 
It took around 2-3 minutes of trying to get the dog to let go of her poor face. 
It took 5 people almost 3 minutes to get one dog off of the other. 

Emmie had her top jaw broken in three different places, her nose bone was broken, teeth have been knocked out and damaged and a gape in her upper mouth was deep enough to reach her nose. She has since had surgery where they have wired, stitched and glued her poor face back together. the surgery amounts to £1,726. 

She will be having further surgery in the next three months for more teeth to removed that have been damaged and broken. These could not be removed in the first operation as we wouldn’t have been able to wire the pieces of bone together securely. 

Since the attack we have learned that there is no police help available after this incident. The dog nor their owners have been investigated after this extremely violent incident. We have contacted the council who have logged a report and we have contacted the local dog warden. Everyone we have spoken to said to speak to the police. 
There is no one to help. 

We have been not once been assisted or helped by a member of the police force as there is no law allowing them to assist. 
I have complained about this numerous times taking complaints further but so far nothing has gotten us anywhere. 

This has to change. Our animals deserve justice too, there should be something the law can do in prosecuting the owner of a dangerous dog, or so police can investigate dangerous dog reports more seriously and not waiting for it to be a dog on child attack.
