The Issue

Date: July 16, 2026

Thank you for your interest in protecting the Point Roberts skate park. unfortunately our biggest battle is still ahead of us. The parks board has already decided to move forward with their plan to turn the skate park into a multi use space, effectivly rendering the skate park useless to skaters.  The current plan is to create 3 areas for Pickle ball, Basketball, and hockey. as it stands they will be removing all the obstacles that have been permanently installed at the skate park to make space for other sports.

The real question is, who asked for this? And why are we having to fight for this space once again.

In the coming months we will strive to answer this question.

What you can do:

1) Email the parks board (prparkdistrict@gmail.com) and express your disdain for the decision.

2) Use the space as much as possible to show them that we aren't going anywhere and we will always fight to protect this space.

3) Attend parks meetings, (first tuesday of each month)  show up and express your disdain in person.

and if nothing else, just signing this petition so we will hopefully have some weight behind our claims that most people want the skate park to stay as is!

Thank you, and always feel free to reach out to me or anyone involved and we can hopefully answer any questions you may have

peace and love

Subject: Petition to Restore and Preserve Point Roberts Skatepark

Dear Members of the Point Roberts Park and Recreation District,

We, the undersigned members of our community, come together with a shared sentiment to express our deep emotional attachment to the Point Roberts Skatepark. While the skate park may be weathered and facing challenges, it holds an irreplaceable place in our hearts and memories.

Point Roberts Skatepark, though currently in disrepair and facing a decline in visitors, remains a cherished landmark for those who have spent countless hours navigating its ramps and creating lasting connections. It is not just a recreational facility; it is a symbol of camaraderie, personal growth, and shared experiences.

Despite its current state, we believe that the restoration and preservation of Point Roberts Skatepark will not only rejuvenate a physical space but also rekindle the spirit and nostalgia that the skate park embodies for our community. The value we place on the skate park extends beyond measurable economic benefits, as its true worth lies in the emotional ties that bind us to this unique space.

We acknowledge the challenges the skate park is facing and we appeal to you for support in revitalizing a place that holds profound sentimental value for our community. We understand the need for improvements and hope to work collaboratively towards ensuring that Point Roberts Skatepark receives the attention it deserves.

By signing this petition, we express our heartfelt desire to see Point Roberts Skatepark restored to its former glory. We recognize the hurdles but believe that with collective effort, we can breathe new life into a beloved community asset.

Thank you for considering the emotional significance we attach to Point Roberts Skatepark, and we look forward to working together to ensure its enduring presence in our community.
