All current members of the CF, and Veterans should be made aware that the entitlement date for treatment and benefits through VAC for injuries sustained in the service of Canada starts from the date of the application. Not the date of the injury. I was informed by the Veterans Review and Appeal Board that when senior leaders within the chain of command either withhold or lie about this crucial information to their subordinate staff, they won't be held liable. Retroactive payments to date of the injury will not be considered due to "bad advice". It was indicated that this practice has been going on since WW2.
