The following letter was written and sent to our MP on Feb 12 2023, and the reply came back on Feb 16. Total whitewash! (I've missed out the name to preserve privacy).

Dear Sir Gary Streeter,
I am a constituent of yours and would like you to hear my story:
On tuesday 8th feb, I went for a walk with my dog at Dean Cross recreation ground in Plymstock ;l met up with a lady named Judy Latimer who is also one of your constituents and who has opened a petition about public spaces protection orders.
we walked for about 40mins and then ran in to a couple of fellow dog walkers and stopped for a chat.
we were accosted by two men who approached us from behind and who declared themselves to be official dog

wardens and informed us they were going to fine us for walking our dogs across a football pitch while not on a lead. They were dressed in 'hoodies' and back to front base ball cap. As a pensioner l am constantly being made aware of the swindles that target the elderly and am very cautious about this. These two had a manner about them and delivered their message in an abrupt and aggressive fashion. I challenged them and one of them flashed a laminated card that that was pinned on his shirt but my eyes are not good enough examine something like that without getting closer than I would have wished so I challenged him about his lack of uniform and he said he had it in his bag. They told us we were committing a criminal offence and would call the police if we did not co-operate By this time Judy and I just wanted to be away from them as we were very skeptical about their dress and the pushy way they spoke to us. In the interests of "safety first" we walked away and they immediately followed us close behind, all the time saying they were going to call the police and all we had to do was give them all our details and they would go away.

they followed us out of the park, all around pomphlett, down to billacombe roundabout, past the GPO depot, and into the boat yard. All the time taunting us and trying to intimidate us, it was most unpleasant and very disturbing.
we went into the cafe there to sit down and have a coffee and they followed us in , standing right behind our table .we had our coffee and could see that the poor customers were feeling uncomfortable and so we decided to leave.

Judy wished to use the toilet before we left and one of of these men positioned himself outside the door while she was inside, very sinister.
They continued to follow us and continued to goad us as they did.

when we reached the main road again I had to sit down on the wall as I starting to wilt a bit. I have a pacemaker fitted and am diabetic and needed to rest, They hovered keeping up the intimidation all the time. I told them about my

condition and that I was struggling a bit and in a very sneering, sarcastic voice he said ,"Oh, do you want me to call an ambulance then" with a big grin on his face.
lopened my shirt and showed him the pacemaker lump on my chest and in an even more sarcastic voice he pointed

to his camera and said"lv'e got a camera".
We continued to walk up the old railway line road towards Oreston and they followed. they had been trying to call the

police but had no success; He put his phone on speaker mode, I think he was trying to intimidate us by this ,howeverI heard the police operator declining his request ;so much for the police threat.

they were also continually talking on the phone to whoever their controller was and receiving instructions. by this time Judy and I were beginning to feel very worried about what would be next.
they started to taunt us again saying very loudly how much they were enjoying their selves and would even keep on after their knocking off time of 5 0 clock if necessary. One of them, using his "sneering" tone spoke to Judy and told her what her address was. Whoever was controlling them had worked out her address so they obviously knew who she was and prompts the question, if they knew that why were they continuing this disturbing and indeed creepy stalking?
One of them tried to grab my dog and backed off suddenly when I told him not to touch my dog, but he then said "well it should be on a lead", absolutely not true on that walkway, and so he then claimed it was out of control. these two were making it up as they were walking. After a couple of stops to rest we were both feeling decidedly out of sorts. We walked through Radford park .enduring the constant stream of taunts by the two guys were enjoying their day out and headed back towards Dean cross.
as we came up to dean cross surgery, Judy said to me "do you want to go in there ,you are looking very grey and I am concerned about you"

we had been on this ordeal for nearly two hours by now and I was very shaky by this time ; in we went-- followed by one of our pursuers.
It was while we were in there that the police arrived .Thank goodness. for that.
the two police officers gave the hoodies that had followed us for two hours a very reassuring demonstration of how to deal with the public and dispensed with their services and sent them away. The surgery staff were equally efficient and very caring indeed when they learned of my health situation, they gave me time to wind down and get my heart beat back to normal (| am so grateful that
I have a pacemaker, without it I would have had a very different result). There is so much more I wish to say to you sir Gary, and so many question I want to ask Plymouth city council, I would like an appointmernt to see you at the soonest you can arrange please. Thank you for reading this saga, there's no quick way to tel it.

Thank you for your email about the issue of dog walking and dog wardens in Plymstock. I am sorry to hear of the distress you recentlyexperienced at Dean CrossPlaying Fields.
Having made enquiries, it has been confirmed the men you have described were Plymouth City Council employees and the incident in question is being investigated. No further information has been provided.
However, Local Ward Councillors have informed me that they have already raised this issue with the Council and asked for clarity by way of better signage and that dog wardens be in uniform rather than following people in plain clothes as you experienced.
That said, I am aware that dog wardens have been used across the city for some time to manage, in particular, dogs being exercised off leads on designated sports pitches or areas with children playing. It is myunderstanding that Dean Cross Playing Fields are included in this grouping as theplaying pitches are Council owned. Clearly, whilst dog owners wish toexercise their pets in their local area, they are attimes using the same land as local sports clubs who do not want to deal with the mess left behindby less responsible owners. Iappreciatethatthis impacts on al dog owners, the responsible and less responsible, but having heard from local sports clubs, I am aware of the inconvenience they face dealing with insanitary detritus left behind by some.
Kind regards,
Gary Streeter
