Sorry for the delay - this update has been in the works for a few weeks.
Good news - The Borough DPW has fixed the drainage issues at the pool (Phase 1 of the project), this is a positive step for the location for the installation of the basketball / pickle court.
We have continued to have positive dialogue with the Borough officials on the remaining phases of the project.
Phase II (basketball / pickleball) of the project was introduced at the Borough Council meeting last night (June 14th.) This was the first reading on the Ordinance.
Ordinance 29-2021 is for initial funding from the Borough will be read for the second time on June 28th.
ORDINANCE 29-2021 ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF MADISON APPROPRIATING $110,000.00 FROM THE GENERAL CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR A BASKETBALL/PICKLEBALL COURT AT MEMORIAL PARK
It was mutually agreed that due to the Madison pool opening it would not be prudent to start the court installation until the pool closes on Labor Day. While not part of the original planning, we are still moving forward in a positive direction.
We will need people to call into the Borough call on June 28th in support of the Ordinance.
We still need petition support to help convince the Madison Borough Council to support the project concept, assist in the funding and move to phase III (paddle courts).
The petition has 1,130 signatures supporting the project, but we need more!
We ask that you continue to share the petition to those who you believe will support this active recreation project that will be a value-added asset to the Madison Community.
