PLEASE SUPPORT - 2 Year Moratorium on Data Centers in San Juan County NM
The Issue
We support a two-year moratorium on Data Center development in SJC in order to provide the public and government agencies the necessary time to conduct due diligence and assess the significant impacts of data centers.
We further support prohibiting non-disclosure agreements between San Juan County Commissioners and data center developers to ensure transparency, public access to information, and meaningful opportunities for public comment.
This is for people who live San Juan County ONLY at this time.

Who We Are -
We are a coalition of individuals living in San Juan County concerned about data center development in our area.
Petition Campaign -
We are petitioning the SJC Commissioners, and Aztec, Bloomfield, Farmington, Kirtland, and Navajo Nation governance to support a two-year moratorium on the development of data centers within their jurisdictions.
Why do we need a moratorium?
To avoid hasty or uninformed governmental decisions; a two-year moratorium would provide communities in SJC the necessary time to conduct due diligence and assess the significant impacts of data centers.
We are also asking that non-disclosure agreements between all levels of government, their leaders and employees, and data center developers be prohibited to ensure transparency, public access to information, and meaningful opportunities for public comment.
Are there data centers planned for SJC?
At this time there are no publicly confirmed plans to build data centers in SJC County or the cities located within. However, SJC is rated as a favorable site for development and we anticipate the need to address this issue. It is important to understand that data center developers require the signing of nondisclosure agreements (NDA) with governments. NDA’s allow negotiations to occur without public notice.
