Currently, there is a lack of dedicated pickleball courts in our community (specifically at Venice Beach), leading to overcrowding and scheduling conflicts on existing facilities. There is statistical proof that these Venice Beach paddle tennis courts are underused during morning hours, while several pickleball players routinely have to wait their turn to play on each of our 3 assigned courts.

Therefore, we, the undersigned regular players of pickleball, petition the Venice Beach Parks & Recreation, and the City of Los Angeles Parks & Recreation to increase access to the Venice Beach paddle tennis courts for pickleball activities by authorizing Court #6 for pickleball use on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, along with the existing access to Courts #7, 10 and 11.

Pickleball is a rapidly growing sport across America with more than 3 million participants nationwide (USA Pickleball Association). It promotes physical health and fosters community spirit - benefits that should be more easily accessible to all residents of our beautiful city.

By expanding court availability, we can accommodate more players, encourage participation from those who have yet to discover this fun-filled game and create a stronger sense of community among residents.
