Firstly, I must thank Ms. Winters of Tokyopop for her response to my inquiry about Saiyuki being once again picked up for translation. This letter is published with the understanding that, I quote Ms. Winters: “I certainly don’t mind you sharing my message, as long as it’s clear that there’s no guarantee we can publish it again. We’re working on a lot of things behind the scenes and really do want to bring back what fans want, but I’d hate to get people’s hopes up prematurely!” Though there is no certainty, there is still a great deal of optimism in the lines:
"I’m keeping a list of all the titles people are requesting so I’ll make sure Saiyuki gets added to it. I’m a fan of Minekura’s work myself so I’d definitely love to see us bring it back. And thank you for linking the petition, that kind of thing really helps us show licensors that there’s a demand for titles!"
I encourage all of you please to write emails to info@tokyopop.com and to kae@tokyopop.com.
Sending well thought out and earnest emails, signing the petition – these are our best chances of getting Saiyuki licenced in the US once again.
Again, a profound thank you to Ms. Winters for her letter. It is always a joy to meet another Minekura fan.
