We petition PNCC Mayor and Councillors to urgently make Vogel Street safer for everyone, including pedestrians and cyclists. Vogel Street has become a dangerous, busy road. We are particularly concerned about the safety of children and the elderly crossing it, and of young people on their bikes. There is just a single pedestrian crossing at the Roslyn shops, and nowhere else for local school children to cross Vogel Street safely. Drivers have to make risky decisions at intersections. Residents are unable to safely walk to the local park, schools or swimming pool. 

This has to change now. With a high proportion of serious injuries involving walking and cycling in the city, and the planned regional freight hub along Railway Road that will increase heavy vehicle traffic even further, PNCC cannot afford to neglect Vogel Street safety issues. All practical steps should be urgently taken to make the street safe.
