Please Let Me Have Contact With My Retired Guide Dog Who Is In Foster Care With Guide Dogs

The Issue

My retired guide dog Vikki is currently in foster care with Guide Dogs after our local Vets told me she needs to be in the care of someone fully sighted due to her health - she has severe Arthritis and Cognitive Decline. I was also told by Guide Dogs Vikki Is at risk of a medical emergency and I would not always be able to get her to a Vet as our nearest out of hours Vet service is 22 miles away and due to my visual impairment I obviously do not drive.

I am registered severely visually impaired. Vikki is 13 years 10 months old. She had been with me 12 years - first for 8.5 years as a working guide dog and then for a further 3.5 years during her retirement.

Vikki went into foster care on the 25th March. It appears that Guide Dogs won’t let me have any contact with Vikki now she is in foster care. Every time I ask they will not answer the question. They have told me I am only allowed an update of a few lines sent by Guide Dogs via e-Mail each month. I have such a strong bond with Vikki and am heartbroken by the situation. I respect if the Vet says Vikki needs to be in the care of someone fully sighted but I don’t understand why I can’t have supervised contact with her. Guide Dogs won’t listen to me and their staff are causing me distress.i am at my wits end.

Please support my request for me to be allowed to have contact with Vikki while she is in foster care. Vikki was in very poor health prior to being taken into foster care and I fear I am losing precious time. It is important I am allowed some contact with her as soon as possible.

I need people to help please. Vikki you are my wonderful girl and I will keep fighting to try and have contact with you.
