We have just heard that we are unable to put our public questions to Wednesday's Committee meeting. The County Council made no allowance for illness which made us miss their deadline.
We are asking the local County Councillor to put these questions:
How much is the purchaser paying for Our Old Library?
The County Council have said that they want a financial gain from this sale. Once the cost of the repairs, and all the costs of the sale process have been deducted, will there be a financial gain, from the sale of Our Old Library, to the County Council? And if so what will this gain amount to?
When the recent sale of Shire Hall fell through, the County Council turned to the second choice bidder. Why did the County Council not take the same approach in relation to Our Old Library, when Centre 33 withdrew?
The report to committee states that the Heads of Terms for the sale were agreed and signed, on 3rd December 2024, so why were we told on 7th December 2024 that these Heads of Terms were still under discussion?
What (if any) safeguards have been included for the local community interest in the Heads of Terms, and if not, why not?
The report’s recommendation asks the councillors to “agree the revised terms”.
What are these revised terms?
And, Please clarify whether these revisions were sought by the officers, or by the purchaser?
