Once again Our Old Library is being considered by the County Council's Assets and Procurement Committee. This meeting is on Wednesday 22nd January 2025.
According to the Committee report, Heads of Terms for the sale were agreed and signed on 3rd December 2024.
An unpublicised ‘meet and greet’ for the community to meet with the preferred bidder - Dan Ross - took place at Our Old Library on 7th December 2024 (see 11 Dec 2024 petition update). Kati and I were able to go along. At this ‘meet and greet’ the lead County Council officer John Macmillan told us that the Heads of Terms were still “under discussion”. This in response to us asking him about the possibility of including 'first refusal for the local community’ in the Heads of Terms, if the sale does not go through.
We now learn (from the officers' committee report (to the councillors at Wednesday's meeting) that those Heads of Terms were agreed and signed on 3rd December 2024, four days before the "meet and greet".
The pattern of secrecy, misinformation and untruths continues.
We are putting a public question to the Committee, and will update you with whatever we find out.
