Please Help Protect Our Community from Sexual Predators

The Issue

We welcome support of this petition, even if you don’t live in Williamson County. Thank you!

As residents of Williamson County, my husband and I are deeply concerned about the safety and well-being of our community. It is with great urgency that I bring forth this petition to implore our District Attorney and Judges to inform the public of known sexual predators.

Specifically, if you believe sexual predators who secretly record up women’s dresses and place hidden cameras in bathrooms belong on the sex offender registry, please sign this petition.

Together, we must take action to protect ourselves and our loved ones from these individuals. People have a right to know if they are living near, working with, dating, or befriending a sexual predator. Parents have a right to know if their child will be anywhere near one.

To the District Attorney and Judges of Williamson County, we are counting on you to prioritize the safety of our community by holding all sexual offenders accountable and alerting the public of known sexual predators.

Current TN law already allows these types of offenders to be registered as sex offenders. If District Attorneys and Judges do not require these offenders to register, they are not enforcing the law in a way that prioritizes our safety.

If you would like to hear my story and reasons why this is so important, please read on.

My Story:

The picture above is of me and my mom. She always taught me to stand up for myself, for what's right, and for others. So with tears in my eyes, I share this as yet another effort to protect you and your family.

I have personally experienced the horrifying violation of having someone take pictures and videos of my private parts without my knowledge or consent.  Not once, not twice, but numerous times over the course of multiple years. This act is not only illegal but also a complete invasion of privacy. It has left me feeling vulnerable and violated knowing that there are individuals out there who prey on innocent people like myself.

My offender strategically placed recording devices in various places including bathrooms and bedrooms. Further, he stole graphic videos from the birth of my son that depict both of us in a state of nudity. During a court proceeding, he admitted to using these for sexual gratification. And no, you did not read that incorrectly. He used one of the sweetest moments in my life, meeting my child for the first time, and twisted it for his perverted sexual gratification. There seems to be no limits as I’ve been tracked and followed in my home, vehicle, on vacation, and on computers and phones.

My family and I have been traumatized over and over by this man and have been fighting for justice for over two years. I have been fighting against a system that is reluctant to hold sexual predators accountable and that seems more interested in protecting the perpetrator instead of the victims and community.

As time has gone on, I have felt burdened to stand up and speak out in effort to protect other women and children. No one should be traumatized in this way.  I strongly believe that sexual predators should be held accountable for their actions, and I strongly believe the public should be alerted and informed of known sexual predators who have engaged in the crime of unlawful photography. However, the DA's office has not supported this position.

The unlawful photography statute makes it illegal to secretly record someone else’s private parts without their permission, which includes the act of secretly filming up women’s dresses and also placing hidden cameras in locker rooms, bathrooms, tanning beds, dressing rooms, under benches, etc.

If sexual offenders who secretly record and violate innocent people are allowed to live in the community, and trust me, they are, then the community absolutely has the right to be informed. These offenders must be placed on the sex offender registry so the public knows who they are and what they are capable of doing.

I’ve found that sexual predators are not necessarily the creeps you might have in mind…they can be married with kids, college educated, well dressed, church goers, volunteers, and seemingly kind, respectful, and helpful. They use their positions of trust to violate innocent people.

EVERYONE deserves to know if they are in danger or could bring their loved ones around a sexual predator.

  • Ladies, wouldn't you want to know if one of your coworkers secretly films up women’s skirts? Or strategically places hidden cameras in bathrooms? Wouldn’t you want to know if one of the dads at your child’s preschool uses kids to help him violate unsuspecting women?
  • Men, wouldn’t you want to know if a sexual predator was living next door to your sister, mother, or girlfriend?
  • Husbands, wouldn’t you want to know if a sexual predator is one of the other parents sitting in the stands behind your wife or teenage daughter as she watches your child’s ball game?
  • Parents, wouldn’t you want to know if a sexual predator is helping coach your son or daughter’s soccer team or shows up to “help” in your child’s classroom? Wouldn’t you want to know before your child attends a sleepover birthday party in this person’s home?

The public absolutely has the right to know so they can protect themselves and their families. Protecting the public should be the priority of our District Attorney and Judges, not protecting the perpetrator.

Studies have shown that public awareness plays a crucial role in preventing sexual crimes by exposing potential predators within communities.

In 2016, the TN legislature voted to make it abundantly clear that a Judge may place anyone who commits the crime of unlawful photography on the sex offender registry. All the TN legislators who represented Williamson County at that time, including our current state senator, voted for this change. Davidson County Judges have applied the law and required sex offender registry in similar cases.  We are counting on our Williamson County Judges to do the same and to send a clear message to our community that sex offenses will not be tolerated.  If District Attorneys and Judges fail to put these offenders on the registry, they are failing to enforce the laws passed on behalf of our community to protect us.

A Williamson County Judge will be presiding over my case on September 11, 2023. This Judge will hear all the facts, determine my offender’s sentence, and most importantly decide if he should be placed on the sex offender registry. I am praying that my offender will be held accountable in a significant way and that the Judge would make decisions that prioritize the safety of our community.

Thank you so much for your support and taking the time to read this.  In addition to signing this petition, there are a few ways you can help:

Please spread the word by sharing my story and petition on social media and with the people you love and care about. That’s the best chance we have to unify as one voice and let those in positions of authority know that unlawful photography should not be tolerated and that sexual predators belong on the sex offender registry.

I don’t want to be known as the girl who was secretly violated in this way, but even more so, I don’t want you or your loved ones to be either. Please help spread the word so we can protect others. Thank you!

Other ways you can help:

  1. Send a letter to the Williamson County District Attorney, Stacey Edmonson, letting her know that unlawful photography offenders should be held accountable and placed on the sex offender registry. Address:1441 New Hwy. 96 W, Suite 2, Box 312, Franklin, TN 37064
  2. Send a letter to the Williamson County Judges letting them know that unlawful photography offenders should be held accountable and placed on the sex offender registry.  Address: 135 4th Avenue South, Franklin, TN 37064
  3. Come to the hearing on September 11th at 9am at the Williamson County Courthouse,135 4th Avenue South, Franklin, TN. My hope is that the courtroom be filled with like-minded people who wish to protect our community

If you made it to the end, thank you. I am forever grateful for your support of this issue, as well as the unwavering support from my mom, sister, and husband.
