We are counting on you to sign this petition to keep our community centre, and peacefully negotiate with the council to keep John McVeity Centre as how it is loved.

This centre is not only a place to exercise. It is not only a building. To a lot of people, this is our safe place where we meet our community and share the same passion. This is where the elderly people, the youth, the parents and their children, and the young adults meet to have a taste of happiness that some of us don't get at home. To some people, this might be the only place where we are allowed to hope : hope to meet the better version of ourselves with the help of our most trusted peers.

Let our voices be heard. This petition aims to:

* Have community consultation and open discussion on what programs will be retained.

* Open communication and dialogue about plans pertaining to fees, and other changes by December.

* Keep the gym equipments and its room, or negotiate alternatives.

* Protect the JMC employees and hopefully get them re-hired.

* Keep the safe space and programs for elderly people.

* Retain the programs for people with disability.

* Retain the classes on - going for group fitness and its instructors.

* Keep the child-minding facility that caters parents.

* Do not remove children and youth programs existing.

* Continue to encourage sprtsmanship and athletism by maintaining the court facilities.

Please, do not remove our place of hope. We love it as it is. We love our community. This is the only place, at its existing membership rate, its people, and everything that comes with it, makes it our second home.
