You signed the petition to protect veterans' access to medicinal cannabis. That issue is now at the centre of a new national campaign — and your support could help tip it.
Today, on ANZAC Day, we honour the service and sacrifice of Australia’s veterans.
To coincide with the commemoration, a campaign called Fair Care for Veterans launched across the country, focused on turning the Royal Commission’s findings into real action. The campaign exists to protect veterans’ right to accessible and adequate treatment.
One of its asks is to restore access to medicinal cannabis to veterans using reputable practitioners — including via telehealth. For veterans managing chronic pain from service injuries, particularly those in regional and rural areas, restrictions on telehealth prescribing have meant many lost access to a treatment that was working.
70% of Australians support veterans accessing medicinal cannabis for chronic pain under medical supervision.
55% support telehealth prescribing.
Recommendation 101 was clear: veterans deserve more choice and autonomy over their own care. The government accepted it. Now it needs to follow through.
The public is already with us. What's needed now is pressure on government to act.
If you’re willing, you can help build that momentum:
· Follow the campaign
· Share it with your networks
· Help more Australians understand what’s happening
The website for this campaign is: faircareforveterans.com.au. You can send your MP a letter in under one minute to tell them how important veterans’ health is.
